The Socialist Council Republic of Nippon, also known as Japan, is an island country in East Asia. It is made up of an archipelago of nearly 7,000 islands, but the majority of the population resides on the largest island, Honshu. Other major islands include Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. Nippon has been a socialist republic ever since the defeat of the ultranationalist regime governing the Empire of Japan in the Great Revolutionary War, after which the monarchy was abolished and a Comintern-aligned leftist government headed by Inejiro Asanuma rose to power.
The country is proximous to China, Chosun, the Ryukyu Islands and the Soviet Union.
